Position Specific Description
The Analyst will help support a team of six in the design, management and implementation of enterprise wide strategies and tactics to enhance the grassroots advocacy capabilities at the state and local level.
He/She will have a proven track record of successful experience in campaign or issue management, a familiarity with the political process and electoral politics and have solid exposure to traditional campaign tactics such as paid, earned and social media, as well as community engagement and related organizational alliances and partnerships.
The role will report to Executive Director, Strategic Engagement of Regulatory & Political Affairs, but will closely coordinate with four Directors, as well as NEER Development, Marketing and Communications, IT and FPL External Affairs. Special projects may be assigned from time to time by the Vice President overseeing the team as well.
The engagement program seeks to develop long term strategies to strengthen NextEra’s relationship with key state and local officials, community leaders and landowners by developing an “always on” approach that is focused on a long-term engagement with key localities and states.
The Analyst benefits from professional experience in the areas of strategic communications, political offices, or work in state and local government. Previous corporate experience is desired. The program will draw on resources from across the business units, so cross-functional experience is desired. The position is based in Juno Beach, FL. Some travel may be required (approximately 10%).
Job Overview
Employees in this role support the Regulatory Affairs team and are involved in the Company’s projects and assets, including regulation and permitting activities in support of those assets. This position collaborates with different business units and involves familiarity with a variety of political, public affairs, regulatory and legislative concepts, practices, and procedures.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Analyzes and reports on changes in regulations, legislation, or permitting requirements and their expected impacts
- Assists management in the monitoring of local, state and/or federal regulatory and legislative development to identify issues affecting company's operations and plans
- Assists in coordinating the representation of organization's interests before state and local regulatory and legislative bodies and/or Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) and Independent System Operators (ISOs) as applicable
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
