Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy Test Automation team is the lead testing team for NextEra and FPL which are responsible for designing and implementing testing frameworks that best fit the given project.  The team has implemented coding standards and best practices for the entire organization to limit technical debt and framework maintainability.  Each SDET team member is dedicated to an agile team where they are the testing SME for the team and will be responsible for all aspects of testing (API, Integration, manual, UI).

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related
  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience performing software testing or related functions
  • Strong coding skills and knowledge of Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Unix Linux Commands, SQL queries, Shell Scripting
  • Ability to thoroughly peer review code
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience in setting up CICD pipeline for regression testing on remote servers (Jenkins, Bamboo, GitHub Actions)
  • Experience in testing web front/backend applications, mobile-web applications using Appium.
  • Working experience in test analysis, design, automation, integration, and end-to-end testing as well as functional manual and API testing
  • Experience with AWS cloud
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to educate the test team on automation framework, automated scripts maintenance
  • Experience working in quick-paced Agile environment and SCRUM team format

Main Responsibilities

  • Design and implement test automation solutions and frameworks
  • Ensure agile development teams follow the guidelines, principles, and QA best practices
  • Ability to thoroughly peer review code adhering to strict team, and industry wide coding standards and best practices to ensure there is little to no technical debt.
  • Knowledge of source code and versions control management tools like GitHub, Bitbucket, GitHub
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to Automation team members 
  • Apply software and automation-based Architecture / Engineering principles, theories, concepts, and technologies.
  • Ensure all projects are setup and executed in a ci pipeline (github actions)
  • Ensure there is little to no technical debt in test scripts utilizing SonarQube

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•  Analyzes, designs, develops, tests, debugs, implements, maintains, integrates, customizes, and enhances existing or new systems

•  Applies appropriate Agile or development methodologies, system development lifecycles, tools, and technology to manage development activities

•  Automates the handoff of code releases from development to operations (DevOps)

•  Participates in the change management and  service ticket management processes including receiving, resolution monitoring, and ensuring customer satisfaction

•  Leads projects when needed and builds strong working understanding of the solution being delivered

•  Ensures user satisfaction by providing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely resolution of more complex problems

•  Designs, develops, and  tests experimental application work to test new ideas with bounded cost and time frames

•  Ensures that applications processes are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, security, compliance, environmental, and technical policies and applicable standards and legislation

•  Acts as liaison with regulatory agencies, vendors, and contractors on matters relating to computer systems as required

•  Defines metrics and monitors Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for systems being developed

•  Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  High School Grad / GED

•  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience

•  Experience: 7+ years
