Position Specific Description

Project Manager – Competitive Intelligence is part of a highly skilled professional team that reports to the Project Director of Competition and Market Intelligence. The team is responsible for the competitive intelligence of renewable generation competitors throughout the US. Employees in this role will play a vital part in NextEra Energy's business growth by providing market expertise through primary and secondary research across the energy value chain. They will analyze NextEra's competitors and potential partners, serving as the go-to expert for the competitive landscape. The role will support senior leadership by anticipating market uncertainties and providing data-driven solutions for strategic decision-making. Additionally, the position will be a trusted resource for engaging with external stakeholders and helping the commercial team build partnerships and customer relationships based on NextEra's vision and value proposition.

 

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Providing the business and our stakeholders with cost-benefit analysis and risk evaluation for future renewable development projects compared to competitor projects
  2. Develop and project manage proprietary modeling tools and methodologies to analyze evolving markets and the impact on company businesses and projects
  3. Analyze market data, historical, and fundamental data, draw inferences, and present results in a clear and understandable format to management and external customers
  4. Synthesize presentation materials consistent with the fundamental market factors and communicate this view to the organization for the purpose of achieving consensus on this view
  5. Manage multiple projects inclusive of those above, completing them promptly
  6. Strong data manipulation, analysis, and presentation skills (Excel, PowerPoint); some experience in evaluating complex technical and financial issues independently, developing recommendations, and action plans, and managing multiple complex assignments simultaneously

Additional Job Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Works across multiple third-party data sources and internal tools to collect and analyze market and competitor data
  2. Review the financial performance of competitors and translate competing business strategies and objectives
  3. Assembles and leads an internal cross-functional, multi-disciplined group of teammates to collect and analyze pricing data
  4. Develop presentations to support the Origination and Development businesses on pricing and market trends
  5. Provides insights to drive critical decisions during bid negotiations and updates to management
  6. Ability to evaluate complex situations and independently make decisions on critical decision points for multiple customers
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and intellectual curiosity
  8. Ability to make decisions involving varied levels of risk and ambiguity
  9. Well-organized and able to synthesize and conceptualize complex ideas
  10. Comfortable working with large data sets
  11. Strong team player with solid analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  12. Performs other job-related duties as assigned

 

Job Overview

Employees in this role assist in the development and execution of plans for new and enhanced generation projects. This job coordinates allocation of resources, schedules, and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner. This position participates in all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads and facilitates the day to day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive result
  • Coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
  • Supports due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
  • Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
  • Assists in the construction of contractual arrangements for project development
  • Participates in negotiating agreements with consultants and subcontractors
  • Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
