Position Specific Description

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work as a crucial member of the Florida development organization and will specifically be working on the Florida Renewable Partner’s (FRP) team, that develops projects for the NextEra Energy Resources pipeline of renewable projects for other utilities in the state of Florida.

 

The primary focus for this role will be leading origination and contract negotiations with key FRP customers for strategic partnerships and renewable energy projects, including solar, battery storage, hydrogen, fleet electrification, and other ESG solutions.  You will lead various aspects of day-to-day project origination activities, including building new and fostering existing customer relationships, the development of bid proposals, preparation of Lead Team vetting materials and leading projects through the Project Valuation process using OMNI. This role will work closely with environmental, E&C, transmission, project valuation, legal and other subject matter experts to develop customer proposals, presentations for customers, and internal presentation materials for management vetting (RiskCom, CEO vetting, OpCom). 

 

The individual selected for this role will work closely with both internal resources and outside consultants and customers to aid in the development of both current and future projects. This role involves some travel (up to 10% of time per month, as needed) throughout the state of Florida, primarily driving.

Job Overview

Employees in this role develop and execute plans for new or enhanced generation projects. This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of the day to day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive results
  • Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
  • Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
  • Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
  • Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
  • Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
  • Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
  • Identifies opportunities and negotiates power sales contracts
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
