Position Specific Description
The expansion of the transmission system will pave the way for a carbon-free future that allows renewables to be implemented in resource optimal locations and transported to load centers. In order to achieve this goal, significant amounts of new transmission infrastructure will need to be built. NextEra Energy Transmission (NEET) is the leading competitive transmission developer in the US and Canada to develop transmission solutions that enable this future. The Project Director, Development leads the development and execution of plans for new and upgraded transmission projects within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) region and the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) region. This position is responsible for leading and managing resource allocation, schedules, and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost-effective and competitive manner. This position drives all aspects of the project life cycle, including need/solution identification, financial feasibility analysis, engineering/design, project legal review, and financial negotiations, to ensure the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints. The successful candidate can look forward to a role of increasing responsibility and progression within the NEET Development group. Overall Responsibilities: The job location is in Juno Beach, Florida. Fully remote candidates will be considered based on their experience and qualifications.
• Manage key stages of transmission development, including siting, right-of-way acquisition, environmental, permitting, engineering/design, regulatory requirements, project legal review and financial feasibility.
• Coordinate due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure all aspects of project development are reviewed and completed in a timely and thorough manner.
• Lead the coordination with internal and external specialists and Subject Matter Experts regarding procurement, contracting, permitting, and interconnection.
• Structure and execute contractual arrangements necessary to support project development, including negotiating agreements with consultants and subcontractors.
• Organize and manage material to support project timelines and key milestones. Identify scheduling risks and potential threats to project development. Proactively communicate timelines and risks with project team and management.
• Ensure compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements.
• Foster external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages all aspects of the day to day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive results
- Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
- Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
- Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
- Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
- Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
- Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
- Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
- Identifies opportunities and negotiates power sales contracts
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
