Position Specific Description

This position will be accountable for supporting the operations of our cloud-based, in-house developed, time-series platform that hosts 6 million tags consuming 61 billion datapoints per day from 600 NextEra assets and serves the data via APIs, Excel, Ignition, and Web Trender. The system feeds data to nearly 3,500 internal and external customersincluding critical control, operations, and diagnostics centers. Role is accountable for monitoring/managing platform performance, troubleshooting and resolving issues prior toimpacting operations, conducting routine maintenance (e.g. Cassandra cluster), performing quality assurance testing, developing consumption based test apps, documentation, and coordination/collaboration/communication with other IT teams and customers.

  • Manage/monitor cloud platform performance thru alarms, alerts, and dashboards. Detect, take action, and disposition alerts/alarms prior to imminent issues impactbusiness operations. Tune existing alarms/alerts and create new to ensure entire platform is properly monitored
  • Adept at troubleshooting complex issues efficiently
  • Support data onboarding activities for new Wind, SolarPV, Energy Storage, and Combined Cycle plants
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum and SDLC environment
  • Assist developers in conducting root cause analyses (RCAs) and identifying countermeasures
  • Develop clear troubleshooting guides (and keep up to date)
  • Further develop and apply support processes that minimize response and troubleshooting times
  • Support verification/validation of bug fixes and enhancements in addition to deployments
  • Familiar with DataDog, CloudWatch, or similar monitoring tools
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP experience
  • Experience with Java and JavaScript
  • Familiar with QA tools
  • Comfortable with reporting out to customers on various metrics
  • Build and maintain customers relationships (Internal, External, and vendors)
  • Clear and concise communications (verbal and written)
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Due to the 24/7 nature of power generation, night, weekend, and holiday support is required


  • Six Sigma Certification; Green Belt or higher
  • Experience with a major real-time data historian such as PI, Ignition, eDNA, etc.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•  Analyzes, designs, develops, tests, debugs, implements, maintains, integrates, customizes, and enhances existing or new systems

•  Applies appropriate Agile or development methodologies, system development lifecycles, tools, and technology

•  Automates the handoff of code releases from development to operations (DevOps)

•  Participates in the change management and  service ticket management processes including receiving, resolution monitoring, and ensuring customer satisfaction

•  Leads projects when needed and builds strong working understanding of the solution being delivered

•  Ensures user satisfaction by providing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely resolution of more complex problems

•  Designs, develops, and  tests experimental application work to test new ideas with bounded cost and time frames

•  Ensures that applications processes are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, security, compliance, environmental, and technical policies and applicable standards and legislation

•  Acts as liaison with regulatory agencies, vendors, and contractors on matters relating to computer systems as required

•  Defines metrics and monitors Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for systems being developed

•  Performs other job-related duties as assigned

•  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience

•  Experience: 2+ years
