Position Specific Description
Our Engineering & Construction (E&C) Department is looking for a Principal Site Development Engineer to join their Civil/Structural SME Team in Juno Beach, FL. This position is responsible for providing technical input & best-practices guidance for business initiatives within NextEra Energy (NEE), from idea conception through project COD.
Key accountabilities and preferred knowledge base of a Site Development subject matter expert include, but are not limited to:
- Performs design & constructability reviews of civil site plans, flood studies, and stormwater management reports for wind, solar, battery energy storage, clean fuels, substation, and transmission facilities under development.
- Maintains/promote best practices and sponsors lunch & learn sessions on paving, grading, and drainage topics.
- Understands FEMA flood zones and State floodplains requirements with the application of base flood elevations for both studies.
- Performs pre-development flood analysis with USACOE’s HEC-HMS & HEC-RAS.
- Working knowledge of hydrology/hydraulic modeling software, such as TR-55, rational method, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, Culvert Master, SWMM, Pond Pack, ICPR, InfoWorks ICM, P8, HY8, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Understands fundamental application of site erosion control BMPs.
- Interprets standards required for plan surveys, topography, photogrammetry, LiDAR, public ROW, easements, road layout and geometry, and GIS.
- Drives resolution of critical issues during the execution phase of projects that can jeopardize project budget and/or schedule if not resolved in a timely manner.
- Ensures that recommended course of action satisfies any third-party obligations.
- Incorporates lessons learned into specifications and best practice documents.
- Provides feedback related to EOR performance and annual report card.
- Travel within North America; 10-20% of time.

Required Qualifications
• Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
• Bachelor's - Engineering
• Experience:7+ years
Preferred Qualifications
• Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
• Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
• Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
• Master's Degree
• Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
• Six Sigma Master Black Belt
