Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy is seeking an experienced individual for a Power Generation Reliability Engineering position on our Wind Analytics Team. NextEra Energy, Inc. is one of the largest and highest-performing power generation companies in the nation and a leader in Renewable Energy. The Power Generation Division (PGD) is responsible for a diverse generation fleet of nearly 50 GW. The fleet, which continues to grow, includes Fossil, Wind, Solar and Energy Storage Facilities.

 

The PGD Wind Analytics team analyzes performance indicators, identifies and prioritizes the greatest total cost opportunities for wind turbine and wind fleet improvement, and drives change from identification through deployment and replication. The selected candidate will be a pivotal part of a dynamic, multifaceted team that is responsible for the analytics of NextEra Energy Wind Fleet reliability data including leadership in the areas of condition-based prevention through prediction, long-term component forecasting, and providing fleet solutions that are practical and optimal.

 

The selected candidate will utilize predictive tools to analyze equipment failure rates in order to develop optimum turbine protection schemes, drive improvement of reliability processes and replication of engineering countermeasures, and identify just-in-time maintenance frequencies. Additionally, the selected candidate will understand Wind turbine performance and provide insights on historical performance, emerging performance trends, and future performance projections. The selected candidate will utilize a variety of formats of data inputs, select the proper parameters to conduct the appropriate analyses, make sound assumptions, and interpret the outputs to make meaningful and justifiable business decisions.

 

The selected candidate will provide domain expertise and specific turbine system support across a wide range of technologies with focuses on prevention through prediction and prevention of reoccurrence.

 

This position requires the qualified candidate to drive quality principles and initiatives into the wind portfolio through Wind Reliability Team efforts. Other job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees a variety of concurrent, high complexity projects
  • Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports
  • Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking and analysis
  • Identifies issues and challenges, measures and validates results, and implements solutions across various stakeholder groups and internal customers
  • Provides expert information to internal and external customers on complex issues
  • Creates and communicates presentation materials for Leadership report outs and team working level sessions with various levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • Conducts internal and external research and stays aware of new developments, innovative advancements, and emerging technologies pertaining to Wind energy
  • Provides coaching, mentorship, and direction to cross-functional teammates
  • Demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding Reliability Engineering efforts and activities of high importance to the business

 

Preferred Qualifications Include:

  • Master’s: Engineering
  • MBA
  • Experience: 7+ years
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Quality Certification
  • Ability to travel to sites throughout the U.S. as needed, <10%
