Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy INC. a leading utility company, is looking for a Prinicipal FICO Functional candidate who can work on small to medium projects independently. This role involves heavy interaction a team of business representatives or liaisons for requirement gathering, prioritize work, develop enhancements to the existing system, coordinate testing, and perform change management / training and design. Employee will provide technical direction on projects to department or project participants.  Maintains thorough knowledge of new development and/or technology pertaining to project(s) and recommends changes for improvement. Position usually requires six to eight years of experience and an advanced degree, or the equivalent and in-depth knowledge in area of specialty.  Provides formalized, continuing work direction, and knowledge transfer to more junior FI/CO team personnel to ensure timely and effective project execution.



Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide SAP ECC/S4 FI/CO functional expertise on projects to ensure timely and effective project execution.
  • Assist with planning, design, configuration, testing, and production release on financial projects which typically involve and impact multiple business areas.
  • Interact with a team of business representatives or liaisons to gather requirements, prioritize work, develop enhancements, coordinate testing, and perform change management.
  • Conduct SAP functional training for business users.
  • Work closely with development teams both onshore and offshore providing detailed specification documents with clear project deliverables and timelines.
  • Plan and manage assigned work activities, complete projects on time and on budget following Agile development methodology
  • Conduct SAP functional training for business users.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of new development and/or technology pertaining to project(s) in the SAP ECC FI/CO space


Preferred Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's – Sciences or Accounting. A CPA and / or MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum 6 years of SAP FICO functional experience in FICO core modules including GL/AP/AR/Banking/AA/CCA/PCA/PS.
  • Must have at least 2-3 full life cycle SAP ERP implementations.
  • At least 3-5 years’ extensive configuration experience in supporting existing SAP Systems (ECC 6.0 and preferably S4).
  • Experience implementing ECC to S4 projects is strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience configuring SAP FICO modules: FI-GL, CCA, AP, AR, TR/Banks, SPL, Month End processing (Settlements/Overheads/Assessments)
  • Experience in Asset management module is required.
  • Strong Experience in integration with other SAP modules including Materials Management and Sale and Distribution.
  • Experience in SAP integration with external Tax Software Sabrix (One Source).
  • Experience in interfaces from Work Management Systems, other Financial Systems (Phoenix, PowerPlan, UI Planner) is desired.
  • Experience with the Agile development methodology and tools such as Atlassian Jira software is preferred.


Job Overview

Employees in this role are responsible for specification and configuration of SAP application enhancements and proactive identification of opportunities to use SAP functionality to better support business processes, along with providing end-user support. Individuals will work with project managers, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Managers, and information technology and business representatives to keep abreast of operational issues, initiatives and strategies with a potential SAP impact.

•  Contributes to the application testing process directly and in support of end users

•  Creates and updates documentation, as appropriate for selected project framework

•  Maintains a familiarity with market trends in technology

•  Performs other job-related duties as assigned
