Position Specific Description
This will be an onsite position in one of our South Florida or Houston Offices.
- Working knowledge of electrical principles and concepts
- Working knowledge of real-time EMS functionality (familiarity of Hitachi EMS/GMS is a plus)
- Working knowledge and able to use programming languages and scripting, such as C++, C#, Java, Oracle, Perl, etc.
- Working knowledge of applicable policies, rules, regulations, and codes in the electrical utility field and cyber security, especially on NERC CIP Standards
- Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Have effective oral and written communications skills
Job Overview
Competent Subject Matter Expert (SME) that serves as a technical leader and mentor, visionaries in the development of roadmaps, strategy and design for assigned technology areas within the Transmission and Substation (TS) and Distribution Grid Control Systems (GCS) organization. Employees in this role provide leadership, strategic decision-making and guidance within technical disciplines, and are responsible for the planning, development, application architecture, implementation, maintenance, monitoring and operations of grid control systems and applications. Systems included are Energy Management System (EMS), Distribution Management System (DMS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Residential/Commercial/Industrial Demand Side Management (DSM) systems and other emerging technologies in support of the Power Delivery Business Unit. Leaders in this job have a strong grasp of electrical system principles, computer systems, programming, network architecture and relational database technologies is desired.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Efficiently executes the development, operational, and maintenance activities of GCS systems and applications with the goal of ensuring a reliable performance while meeting or exceeding systems development and operational targets
- Executes assigned activities related to delivering GCS systems, applications, and emerging technology projects of varying complexity
- Ensures GCS systems, applications and emerging technologies meet network architecture, operational, cyber security standards and protection processes
- Develops strong relationship with business partners and customers (internal and external) to work on analyzing strategy and trends to define the requirements, principles, and models that guide technology decisions
- Understands industry trends and develops roadmaps through new technologies and approaches to fulfill strategic business plans
- Coaches, mentors and leads technical subject matters experts to enable and drive consistency across technology architectures
- Assesses risks, selection and design of hardware and software technology and product standards, and coordinates necessary changes to GCS systems and applications through Change Management process
- Design and owns governance, availability, assurance, integrity and standards for enterprise technology architecture compliance in accordance with FRCC, NERC, and FERC standards related to grid monitoring and control systems, acting as a company representative during audits and data requests
- Participates in callout rotation, acting as the primary contact for troubleshooting and operational processes within GCS, additionally supports with corresponding storm assignment and duties as well as storm dry run as required
- Executes Operational Excellence goals and initiatives, and helps establish and maintain a process driven functional team within the GCS organization
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned

- Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
- Experience: 6+ years

- Master's Degree
- GCIP Certification
- SAN Certification
- Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
