Position Specific Description

We are looking for a driven and analytically sharp Lead Financial Analyst to join our Project Controls group. In this role, you will be at the center of capital project financial oversight — tracking costs, identifying variances, and delivering insights that keep projects on time and on budget. You'll work across teams, own your workload, and bring clarity to complexity.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor project costs against budgets and forecasts, identifying and communicating variances with context and recommended actions
  • Build and maintain dynamic financial models, spend curves, and cost tracking tools in Excel
  • Partner with project managers, engineering, procurement, and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Develop and maintain forecast detail and cash spend curves, reconciling accrued vs. cash positions
  • Investigate data discrepancies independently, track down answers, and close gaps without waiting to be directed
  • Support monthly reporting cycles including variance analysis, cost reviews, and stakeholder presentations
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and proactively implement solutions

What We're Looking For

  • Strong Excel proficiency — pivot tables, dynamic named ranges, structured tables, and formula-driven models
  • Cost monitoring and variance analysis experience in a capital project or construction environment
  • A natural problem solver who can take ambiguous information and build structure around it
  • Self-starter with a bias toward action — you figure things out, you don't wait to be told
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple deliverables and shifting priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent cross-functional communicator who builds trust with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities evolve and deadlines are real

Preferred Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • 4–6 years of experience in financial analysis, project controls, or capital project accounting
  • Familiarity with energy or construction industries is a plus
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and cost management tools
