Position Specific Description

The Principal Data Analytics & Engineer will be responsible for leading data-driven initiatives and implementing advanced analytical solutions within the Nuclear IT division. This role requires a strong background in data engineering, analytics, and nuclear industry knowledge to drive decision-making and optimize operations.

 

Candidate must be a US citizen or US Permanent Resident.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of data analytics solutions to support nuclear operations and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, engineering, and operations, to understand data needs and develop effective solutions.
  • Implement data pipelines, data warehousing, and ETL processes to ensure high-quality and accessible data.
  • Design and build strong foundational data pipelines for AI initiatives.
  • Knowledge of real-time and IOT data is a plus.
  • Lead different data management efforts (Data quality, Data Governance, Retention, Privacy and Data Security)
  • Develop advanced analytical models and algorithms to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  • Mentor and guide junior data engineers and analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement in data practices.
  • Provide level 3 support to current Power BI reports.
  • Ability to act as Power BI admin.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or a related role, with a strong emphasis on the nuclear industry.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes (Glue, Talend), and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to nuclear data management and security.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Power BI Architect, Python, AWS DMS, Microsoft Co-pilot, Microsoft Studio.
  • Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in the nuclear sector is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS and Azure) and their data services.
  • Experience with PostGres, Redshift, Elastic Search and Neo4J.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•  Analyzes, designs, develops, tests, debugs, implements, maintains, integrates, customizes, and enhances existing or new systems

•  Applies appropriate Agile or development methodologies, system development lifecycles, tools, and technology to manage development activities

•  Automates the handoff of code releases from development to operations (DevOps)

•  Participates in the change management and  service ticket management processes including receiving, resolution monitoring, and ensuring customer satisfaction

•  Leads projects when needed and builds strong working understanding of the solution being delivered

•  Ensures user satisfaction by providing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely resolution of more complex problems

•  Designs, develops, and  tests experimental application work to test new ideas with bounded cost and time frames

•  Ensures that applications processes are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, security, compliance, environmental, and technical policies and applicable standards and legislation

•  Acts as liaison with regulatory agencies, vendors, and contractors on matters relating to computer systems as required

•  Defines metrics and monitors Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for systems being developed

•  Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience

•  Experience: 6+ years
