Position Specific Description

The PGD Technical Services Specialist role introduces candidates to Industrial Control System (ICS) Cyber Security and NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) practices in fossil, renewable and control center operational environments. Candidates can expect to serve in a hybrid role which includes NERC CIP process management, hands-on security controls tasking at power plants, and participates in organizational projects, as required.

Team members in this role will:

  • Work in conjunction with subject matter experts and learn how ICS security is designed, configured, and maintained in an operational technology (OT) environment.
  • Develop a technical understanding of ICS network infrastructure, security appliances, and security control configurations.
  • Have responsible for managing one or more NERC CIP standard programs
  • Support the execution of operational tasking specific to CIP-002 through CIP-013, including system administration, security patch management, AV, SIEM Log Monitoring, Backup & Recovery, and Incident Response.

 

Under general guidance, this entry level position applies diversified knowledge of technical principles and practices to broad variety of assignments and related fields. Requires use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices in individual's field. Devises new solutions to problems encountered. Receives guidance related largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. Receives technical guidance for unusual or complex problems. Position will. Job may include other miscellaneous duties as assigned. Individuals with NERC/CIP experience preferred.

 

Preferred Qualifications
•  Bachelor's – Engineering/ Computer Science/ Information Security

•  Knowledge of Industrial Control Systems

•  Certifications – Security+, CCNA, CISSP

• NERC CIP experience

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides full-time technical support to the operations and business unit personnel
  • Performs system testing and documentation to critical systems during significant changes and/or upgrade
  • Analyzes and identifies the root cause of - and implements comprehensive technical solutions to - complex application deficiencies and system issues
  • Provides technical leadership in the functional specification, design, and implementation of new (as well as enhancements to existing) security center applications and tools
  • Develops new (and improves existing) processes with goal of increasing productivity, reducing risk of system failure, promoting efficiency in work flow, and meeting or exceeding the key operational performance targets
  • Establishes, documents, and maintains procedures and guidelines related to the day-to-day operational support provided to the operations and business unit personnel
  • Travels to power plants for onsite troubleshooting support
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
