Job Overview
NextEra is seeking a Manager of Data Science to join the newly formed Transformation Office within the Business Management organization. Business Management owns the P&L for the world’s largest portfolio of renewable assets and is responsible for ensuring these assets meet financial commitments.
This includes:
- Acting as the CEO of the assets
- Driving optimal commercial and regulatory outcomes
- Maximizing revenue and optimizing operational performance
This leader will spearhead advanced modeling, simulation, and analytics initiatives to enable smarter investment, maintenance, and operational decisions, working closely with finance and operations to build scalable predictive and optimization models that drive enterprise-wide transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy advanced forecasting models, simulations (e.g., Monte Carlo), and optimization algorithms for capital and operational planning.
- Lead and develop data-driven initiatives across predictive maintenance, asset performance, and total cost of ownership modeling.
- Partner with finance and transformation teams to translate models into business-relevant insights and strategies.
- Communicate technical insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders and participate in cross-functional decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of experience building statistical models, simulations, or optimization tools in a business setting.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or Julia, and experience with libraries such as scikit-learn, or PyMC.
- Experience with Monte Carlo simulations, time-series data, and operational optimization.
- Experience working with large datasets and cloud-based analytics environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Databricks).
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills; able to align technical work with business objectives.
Job Overview
This job will use business management consulting skills to work with internal clients through all stages of strategy-based transformation engagements.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides thought leadership and execution support on client assignments to craft strategy
- Conducts both client and market development to grow the business
- Consults with clients to identify, clarify, and solve problems critical to clients' strategy and operating success
- Develops conclusions and recommendations, writes reports, assists in client presentations and provides implementation assistance as required
- Constructs the analytical framework and work steps for each assignment, and leads the problem solving process associated
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
