Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy Resources, LLC seeks a Manager Project Estimating in Juno Beach, FL to support design, planning, and budgeting of renewable energy construction projects. Manage technical development and execution of complex engineering capital projects. Analyze and review construction means and methods for wind, solar, substation and transmission construction requirements. Collaborate with cross functional teams involved in project development and planning and execution to develop project estimates and improve estimating tools. Lead and prepare engineering-related construction estimates. Develop pricing models.
Required Qualifications
High School Graduate/GED
Bachelor’s Degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field Experience: 8 years of experience in similar roles
8 years of experience with utility-scale energy projects, including renewable energy, power generation, and transmission infrastructure; 8 years of experience with industry standards and best practices in project estimating and cost management; 8 years of experience with Microsoft Office including Excel; 4 years of experience with value engineering principles and practices; 4 years of experience with construction methods, materials, and equipment; 2 years of experience in management or supervisory role.
Job Overview
This position oversees and performs estimating functions on major projects in the power sector, including wind, transmission, gas pipelines, solar, fossil, energy storage and distributed generation. Employees in this role develop, interpret, and execute policy objectives and standards applicable to estimating activities. Successful candidates work with other project team members to assess project risk and cost exposure, during the development and execution phases.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Works collaboratively with early stage project managers, to determine project priorities and work plans required to meet corporate objectives with limited estimating resources
• Manages Engineering and Construction department estimating resources, to provide effective estimating support company-wide
• Performs project due diligence, including assessment of costs for design options and project optimization
• Prepares capital cost estimates
• Obtains commitments from early stage project managers, as necessary, to support project estimating schedules
• Determines necessary procedure or process requirements for estimating group, and coordinates development and implementation of same
• Stays current with technology and industry evolution, in order to assure that project capital estimates anticipate the correct market conditions
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
