Position Specific Description

The Manager – Operational Analytics position oversees a team of analysts responsible for the performance analysis and reporting of wind, solar and storage asset operations.  The team is responsible for applying advanced scientific methodologies to renewable asset production data to aid in determination of root cause analysis of sub-optimal performance and the reporting of renewable asset performance.  The candidate achieves successful results by effectively applying analytical solutions, understanding results and articulating results to other business units with an eye toward continuous improvement.  This position also commonly provides reports and status updates to executive management through various risk vetting and operational committees.

Primary (Essential) Job Functions Include:

  • Provide direct oversight to a team of analysts responsible for the day-to-day analytics and reporting of wind, solar and storage asset operations
  • Prioritize and schedule daily workflow and non-standard requests
  • Develop, implement and improve analytical methods and tools for evaluating asset performance
  • Effective project management and tracking for long-lived, cross-functional projects for both intra- and inter-departmental customers
  • Represent business unit in key cross-functional meetings in support of monthly and annual budget planning as well as investment decision approvals
  • Perform diagnostic reviews and collaborates with other business units on root cause analysis
  • Maintain strong and regular alignment of all team activities with broader organizational goals and objectives
  • Seek, attract, hire, and retain top talent throughout the team and organization
  • Carry out and comply with all necessary reporting mechanisms, approvals, and performance reviews

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Atmospheric Science, Math, Physics; advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a combination of the following, or related, areas:
    • Wind, solar energy and storage background
    • Quantitative analysis of large datasets
  • Proficient in statistical analysis packages (R, Python, MATLAB, etc.) and other computer science languages preferred (C++, Java, Javascript, etc.)
  • Advanced abilities with MS applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization; both written and oral
  • Ability to work extended hours and respond swiftly when appropriate
  • Ability to project manage cross-functional, long-lived improvement projects
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with firm deadlines
