Position Specific Description
Business Management Strategic Initiatives team is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to assume responsibility in analyzing and interpreting complex data to drive informed business decisions and strategic initiatives. This position involves managing large datasets, developing advanced predictive models, and working closely with cross-functional teams to implement data-focused solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the analysis of large datasets to generate actionable insights and create visual interactivity for enhanced user engagement.
• Develop, refine, and oversee predictive models and advanced algorithms.
• Collaborate with various departments to integrate data analysis seamlessly into business processes.
• Conduct and oversee ad-hoc analysis, presenting insightful results to key stakeholders.
• Ensure and enforce data quality and integrity across projects.
Position Specific Required Skills:
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as Python or R, experience with SQL for complex data manipulation and expertise in big data tools and machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Analytical Skills: Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities to interpret data and derive meaningful insights.
• Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of the energy sector, with an emphasis on renewable energy resources.
• Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead and mentor data science teams, manage projects, and influence decision-making processes.
• Communication Skills: Excellent ability to communicate complex data findings in a clear and concise manner to non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and on a matrixed team
Job Overview
This position is responsible for leading the development of algorithms, modeling techniques, and optimization methods that support many aspects of NextEra and FPL business. Employees in this role use knowledge of machine learning, optimization, statistics, and applied mathematics along with abilities in software engineering with a focus on distributed computing and data storage infrastructure (i.e., “Big Data”).
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide thought leadership, set technical strategy, and identify possible uses of data science methods
- Explain methods and results to upper-level executives
- Develop machine learning, optimizations or other modeling solutions
- Oversee related employee work, learn new techniques being developed
- Prepares comprehensive documented observations, analyses and interpretations of results including technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses
- Works with big data and distributed computing platforms
- Develops software and contributes to product development
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience: 6+ years
