Position Specific Description

The vendor management lead will work with the IT business leaders to set and build the vendor oversight model for vendors.  They will be the primary point of contact for key vendors and lead the relationship and contract management for critical suppliers based on the portfolio segmentation tier results.  The lead will maximize the value attained from the sourcing agreements and ensure that both NextEra/FPL and its vendors fulfill their contractual, performance and financial obligations.  

Job Overview

This job executes the contracting process for assigned business areas and implements policies and programs directed towards providing contracted services and materials. Employees in this role develop and execute complex sourcing agreements containing unique terms and conditions with little or no management oversight.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Executes the contract maintenance process for assigned areas, and leads and participates on contract maintenance project teams
  • Analyzes responses to complex bid requests, distills commercial differences, and makes recommendations in selecting the appropriate supplier for contract awards
  • Conducts complex negotiations successfully under aggressive time demands
  • Develops and maintains relationships with business units and suppliers, conducts industry analysis, and evaluates supplier performance
  • Provides market data to support supplier selection, qualification and on-going performance management
  • Participates in contract maintenance data analysis, forecasting and planning
  • Develops new sources of supply and monitors ongoing supplier performance
  • Assists in managing the external spend, driving down the total cost of ownership
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 6+ years
