Position Specific Description

 

Risk Management oversees all the insurance needs for NextEra Energy, Inc., as well as assessing and analyzing risks to the organization. The group is responsible for engaging with internal business units, insurance brokers, and insurance companies. Risk Management also oversees Palms, a Captive insurance company, as well as developing strategy on managing risk internally, risk transfer, and executing strategy.

The Risk Management Financial Analyst will be required to do the following:

  • Support the risk management operations team on the placement and continuous management of insurance programs
  • Develop and maintain models and harness exposure data to allow for analytical sensitivities, including the overall risk exposure, transferring of risk, retention of risk via the captive, expected premiums
  • Perform strategic analysis to help minimize Total Cost of Risk (TCOR), while maximizing the financial performance of the Company
  • Assist with premium allocation on applicable lines of coverage
  • Support due diligence processes, inclusive of quarterly reporting, mergers, acquisitions, and divestures
  • Assist with managing the corporate-wide surety bond program
  • Research and report on insurance market industry trends
  • Prepare presentations for management and executive leadership reports on policy renewals and other ad hoc projects

The Risk Management Financial Analyst should possess the following:

  • Ability to work on matrixed team in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Strong analytical/modeling skills – including expertise in Excel
  • Strong communication skills – interpersonal as well as the ability to create presentations

Preferred degree:  

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, risk management / insurance or other technical field

Job Overview

Employees in this role supports Senior Management decision making via financial modeling, including but not limited to, revenue requirement and customer bill impacts, discounted cash flow analysis and financial statement modeling.  This position identifies and conducts moderately complex analyses of financial impacts of issues and/or decisions facing the company and proposes strategies to maximize financial performance of company.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Identifies, analyzes, and communicates to management the impact on the Company's financial structure, profitability, financial integrity, and competitive position utilizing relevant analytical methods and/or department’s forecasting models
•   Provides financial analysis support for various projects, calculating revenue requirements, net present value, customer bill impact, etc.
•   Provides expertise, support, and financial training for the company departments requiring these services
•   Performs financial analyses as required by management or regulatory bodies
•   Prepares PowerPoint presentations to be provided to Senior and Executive Management 
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  High School Grad / GED
•  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
•  Experience: 3+ years

Preferred Qualifications

•  Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance
•  Master's - Business Administration
