Position Specific Description

Great opportunity to join the NextEra Water team.  The ideal candidate is the subject matter expert for rate development and rate design for the company. The incumbent manages and maintains NextEra Water rates and tariffs and related contracts and agreements. A key role in support of NextEra Water rate design in NextEra Water base rate cases and other rate-related regulatory proceedings. The incumbent:
•    Is an expert in terms of water and wastewater utility rate design concepts and philosophies;
•    Maintains an in-depth knowledge of rate concepts, approaches, and in other jurisdictions;
•    Maintains a working knowledge of riders, mechanisms and cost of service studies, and how they influence rate design;
•    Manages NextEra Water Tariff book, including rate schedules, rules and regulations, contracts and agreements, and other miscellaneous documents.
•    Responds to requests coming from various regulatory commissions related to rates and rate design;
•    Provides guidance and assistance to various departments within the Company and customers related to rates and other aspects of NextEra Water;
•    Develops and maintains credible and professional relationships with regulatory commissions and staff; and
•    Performs other job-related duties as assigned

The leader in this role directs the development of new rates for the company's wholesale and retail customer classes and individual customers.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops rates for unbundled utility services such as transmission, distribution and stand-by service
  • Supervises the administration and compliance of existing rates
  • Directs cost of service studies and load research to determine profitability of various rates
  • Secures Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulatory approval
  • Analyzes, develops, revises and administers the organization's tariff schedules
  • Compiles, studies and maintains rate, revenue, load and customer data to assess the effectiveness of current tariff schedules and rules
  • Writes proposals to change the organization's existing rates and rules
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: 10+ years
