Position Specific Description

The Director, NEER Experiential Marketing and Communications, Events will be responsible for developing and leading the integrated experiential marketing and events strategy for NextEra Energy Resources. The role will provide holistic strategic leadership and executional oversight for Nextera Energy Resources and associated business units at all B2B events to build thought leadership, increase brand equity, drive awareness of services, products and technologies while enabling lead generation and commercial conversion.  This role will collaborate with a cross functional team (internal, agency and industry partners) to create differentiated and relevant experiences that deepen customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing the NEER enterprise experiential marketing strategy including goals & objectives addressing various target audiences. Ensuring strategy includes end to end event activations across various channels.
  • Bringing brand thought leadership strategy & service/product/portfolio initiatives to life through live events and experiential activations. Work closely with commercial and sales teams to translate large-scale messaging needs into exceptional event experiences, while enabling lead generation opportunities.
  • Ensure consistent brand, messaging and integrated visual identity across all event types and associated promotional channels (i.e. email, web, social).
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with sponsors and vendors. Research, identify, and recommend new opportunities for event marketing partnerships.
  • Oversee event execution with team of dedicate in-house event professionals, select agencies and partnership across various marketing and communication teams.
  • Prioritize events, projects and initiatives based on resource capacity and needs of the business.
  • Demonstrate creative and innovative thought leadership, keeping ahead of trends and providing proactive inspiration and recommendations.
  • Gathering data and qualitative insights to develop well-informed and effective strategic plans.
  • Develop measurement frameworks and reports to assess event performance and make recommendations or optimizations for future investments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in field(s) of marketing, communications, advertising, event strategy and planning or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field
  • Proven track record of successful B2B event strategy, planning and execution. Experience in planning large-scale events such as runs and walks, golf and other sporting tournaments and galas using an external committee structure of nonprofit leadership and caring volunteers
  • Understanding of B2B events landscape and preferably knowledge of major energy and sustainability industry events
  • Experience with event registration and management software, such as Bizzabo, Cvent or Eventbrite
  • Ability to develop connections and influence across internal and external stakeholders, supporting cross-sector business teams. Influence at all levels of management.
  • Experience working in a large multi-business unit company and corporate function a plus, including working in a decentralized and matrixed environment
  • Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills

Job Overview

Employees in this role lead integrated communications strategies in support of one or more business units or functional areas, assuming full responsibility for leading the development, implementation and measurement of ROI-based communication plans in support of the business units’ objectives. This position is responsible for the outreach to customers and other external audiences to enhance the company's reputation as a reliable provider of electricity and raise awareness among customers and other key stakeholders of the company’s initiatives to improve its service and reliability. Individuals direct outreach to customer audiences through direct mail and other channels, participation in community events, and proactive media outreach (working collaboratively with the media relations team).

•   Drives the effective use of market research and other analytics to develop recommendations
•   Develops, improves, standardizes, and manages work processes to ensure consistent performance that meets client expectations, including cross- functional collaboration inside and outside of Marketing and Communication (M and C)
•   Provides communications counsel to senior leaders and managers
•   Manages the effective use of communication channels
•   Leads a team of communications managers and professionals, coaching and directing their performance in accordance with the M and C teams high standards for excellence in client service
•   Ensures disciplined budget management
•   Performs a key role as a member of the M and C leadership team in helping to strengthen the capabilities of the M and C business unit
•   Develops as well as follows critical business processes to ensure quality and timely execution of initiatives
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned
