Position Specific Description

We are seeking a Tax Technology Professional to lead the Tax Process and Technology team located at our headquarters in Juno Beach, FL. This role will report directly to our Chief Tax Officer and will be responsible for supporting the Tax department with their technology. The successful candidate will work closely with multiple business units within the organization in order to ensure a full understanding of entire Tax department needs and ensure that NextEra Energy, Inc. remains “Best in Class” with regard to the quality and efficiency of our tax process. In addition, he or she will also be liaising with multiple stakeholders; tax professionals, IT teams, and software vendors. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Participating in the overall design and execution of the tax data warehouse including defining requirements from multiple functional areas within tax
  • Executing larger and small tax projects identified by leadership including the ability to prioritize, lead and develop team members, and develop appropriate timelines
  • Provide ongoing support to the customers within tax including development of training programs to raise the collective digital IQ of the department


Job Overview

This position is responsible for maintaining the underlying tax processes and the tax data and technology infrastructure from a functional perspective, helping to ensure the timely availability of quality data and effective processes and tools to support the various activities of the Tax Department.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Works with tax leadership in developing and achieving a multi-year tax technology plan that improves core functionality
•   Provides project management for income tax processes and technology projects
•   Maintains an in-depth understanding of the information technology environment, including tax software, hardware, and Information Management related policies and procedures and ensures tax systems are in compliance with such policies and procedures
•   Identifies and facilitates determination of necessary process and technology modifications resulting from acquisitions, significant transactions, and tax law changes
•   Coordinates with external vendors and the Information Management department for installation, maintenance and upgrading of software and hardware components that comprise the tax technology environment
•   Develops, delivers and/or coordinates delivery of training for Tax Department personnel on the components that comprise the process and data aspects of the tax technology environment
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  High School Grad / GED
•  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
•  Experience:10+ years
•  Supervisor/Management Experience:5+ years
