Position Specific Description

This position supports the Rates & Load Forecasting Systems team responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated data pipelines and analytical infrastructure used by the Rates & Load Forecasting teams.

 

The Data Engineer builds and optimizes data flows from multiple enterprise and external sources to ensure clean, reliable, and timely access to data for regulatory filings, rate design, and forecasting models. The role requires strong technical expertise in SQL, Python, and ETL design, along with a working understanding of business processes supporting regulatory and financial analysis.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to support rate and forecasting data needs.
  • Integrate data from enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, AMI, billing, financials) into structured analytical environments.
  • Implement data validation and monitoring frameworks to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Optimize query performance, storage structures, and refresh schedules to improve reporting efficiency.
  • Collaborate with forecasting, rate design, and reporting teams to translate analytical requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Maintain version-controlled code repositories and technical documentation.
  • Support automation of recurring processes using scripting and orchestration tools.
  • Work with big data and distributed computing platforms; perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in data engineering or analytics development.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python
  • Experience with relational databases and cloud-based data platforms
  • Understanding of data governance, version control, and CI/CD practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of customer service and metering domains; experience modeling revenue and forecasting
  • Programming skills in SQL, Python, R; experience with Git and software engineering best practices
  • Familiarity with data warehousing strategies (e.g., EDP, SAP) and customer service, metering, and accounting systems
  • Experience with AWS, PostgreSQL, shell scripting; big data/distributed computing
  • Experience with machine learning and AI; common industry analytical tools and techniques
  • Understanding of rates and revenue forecasting; ability to coordinate across multiple internal and external SMEs
