Position Specific Description

Corporate Development leads transactions for the world’s largest electric utility and world leader in renewable energy – NextEra Energy. The group is responsible for engaging with the investment banks and counterparties during the deal process in order to negotiate terms and structure deals for mergers or acquisitions. Corporate Development also works on corporate strategy presentations for executive leadership in conjunction with the subject matter experts around the company. In this position you lead evaluation and execution of M&A opportunities, including coordination of external financial analysis and internal diligence teams.

Job Overview

Employees in this position will take a leadership role in deal execution, managing key workstreams in M&A transactions while supporting strategic planning efforts for the company’s growth initiatives.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee financial modeling, valuation analysis, and transaction structuring
  • Lead due diligence efforts, coordinating cross-functional teams and external advisors
  • Evaluate acquisition targets, market trends, and regulatory considerations
  • Present strategic recommendations to senior executives
  • Support post-merger integration efforts to maximize deal synergies
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's - Finance, Economics or Related Field
  • Experience: 5-7 years in investment banking, private equity, or corporate development in the energy/utilities industry OR 4+ years with advanced degree
  • Proven track record of leading transactions and strategic initiatives
  • Expertise in M&A execution, strategic analysis, and regulatory considerations
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's - Business Administration
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
