Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy is seeking a highly motivated financial analyst to join our Treasury team. This individual will rotate across three distinct team functions. Capital Markets Fundraising: develop and execute on the corporate financing plan by issuing different bonds and equity products. Treasury FP&: forecast corporate liquidity, prepare board presentations, MOPR, and ad hoc Treasurer and CFO requests. Hedging Program: trade interest rates and foreign currencies to support the continued development of NEECH’s interest rate and foreign exchange hedging program.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support bond and equity transactions
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with banking partners, lawyers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Build and update financing models
  • Digest market reports and benchmarks and present insights
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership, articulating risk exposure, impact to earnings & cash flows, and market insights.
  • Execute interest rate hedges and cross currency swaps alongside foreign debt issuances
  • Prepare materials for management overviewing our corporate hedge portfolio
  • Monitor interest rate markets and assess the potential impact on the company’s financial portfolio and capital structure.
  • Complete ad-hoc analysis of our current/future hedging and understanding their impact on our credit metrics and EPS

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field (MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in banking risk solutions/rates, corporate finance, treasury, capital markets, or financial risk management.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills (Bloomberg, FactSet, OpenLink skills preferred)
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and risk assessment tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with interest rate derivatives and cross-currency swaps, ideally in a project finance or infrastructure context.
  • Familiarity with accounting concepts and regulatory frameworks is strongly preferred.

Job Overview

This position works with internal and external groups to perform due diligence and asset valuations of various corporate financing projects. This position works as a Subject Matter Expert in the planning and coordination of work assignments to identify and analyze the impact of relevant financing projects.
 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works with internal and external groups to analyze various financial projects such as mergers and acquisitions                  
  • Builds, enhances and maintains complex financial models                   
  • Proposes strategies to maximize the financial performance of the company                   
  • Supports project and corporate capitalization processes with due diligence, identification of key risks and mitigants, and cash flow analyses                   
  • Makes recommendations on financing decisions and executes long and/or short term financings        
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience            
  • Experience: 2+ years
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's - Accounting / Finance
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)            
  • Chartered Financial Analyst  (CFA)
