Position Specific Description

Gexa Energy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Commercial Operations and Strategy Lead to support analysis and strategy on projects in the C&I Power and Gas team. This role will report directly to the Sr. Director of Strategy & Analytics team and will play a critical part in shaping the future of our business through strategic financial analysis, business performance optimization, and long-term planning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in management consulting, finance, and strategy, with preferred qualifications such as CPA and CFA. Employee needs the ability to quickly and accurately identify issues or trends via analysis and provide improvement opportunities in area of responsibility resulting in reduction of cost, optimization of revenue, and process improvements. Able to prioritize requests and ensure timeliness required.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Sales Strategy: Work alongside the sales team to develop and refine sales strategies, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and market conditions.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of long-range strategic plans, including market analysis, competitive positioning, and growth strategies.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): Support the financial modeling, due diligence, and strategic assessment for potential M&A opportunities to support business growth initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leadership, finance, operations, and sales teams to support business performance and growth.
  • Operational Efficiency: Drive initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and effectiveness, resulting in cost savings and enhanced business performance.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and threats in the power and gas sectors.
  • Financial Modeling: Develop sophisticated financial models for business cases, valuation, budgeting, and forecasting to support strategic decision-making.
  • Business Performance Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive business performance dashboards and reports, leveraging key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide actionable insights.
  • KPI Identification & Development: Identify, define, and implement KPIs to measure business performance across various functions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field. MBA or Master’s degree preferred
  • Work experience: 5-10+ years in management consulting, finance, strategy, or related fields management consulting, finance, strategy, or related fieldsCertifications: CPA and/or CFA preferred
  • Background: Experience with top MBB management consulting firms or Big Four CPA firms is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Advanced financial modeling, strategic planning, analytical problem-solving, and strong presentation skills.
  • Tools: Proficiency in financial analysis software, Excel, PowerPoint, SQL, Power Bi, and data analytics tools.
  • Attributes: Strong business acumen, ability to work independently, excellent organizational and time management skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written, and self-motivated with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.

Job Overview

Employees in this role supports Senior Management decision making via financial modeling, including but not limited to, revenue requirement and customer bill impacts, discounted cash flow analysis and financial statement modeling.  This position identifies and conducts complex analyses of financial impacts of issues and/or decisions facing the company and proposes strategies to maximize financial performance of company.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Identifies, analyzes, and communicates to management the impact on the Company's financial structure, profitability, financial integrity, and competitive position utilizing relevant analytical methods and/or department’s forecasting models
•   Provides financial analysis support for various projects, calculating revenue requirements, net present value, customer bill impact, etc.
•   Provides expertise, support, and financial training for the company departments requiring these services
•   Performs financial analyses as required by management or regulatory bodies
•   Makes recommendations on financing decisions and executes long and/or short term financings
•   Prepares PowerPoint presentations to be provided to Senior and Executive Management 
•   Acts as a mentor to lower level employees
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  High School Grad / GED
•  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
•  Experience: 6+ years
