Position Specific Description
The Business Analyst I will support the NEER Finance Process Transformation team by designing, building, and improving efficient and scalable workflows, automation, and reporting solutions that reduce manual effort and increase transparency. This role partners with internal stakeholders to identify inefficiencies, implement automation, and deliver practical process improvements using Alteryx, AI-enabled solutions, Power BI, and Microsoft Power Platform tools.

Reports to: Supervisor, Process Transformation
Key Responsibilities
1) Process Design, Workflow Optimization, and Analytics Enablement
- Design, document, and improve end-to-end finance processes with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and control.
- Develop enhanced variance and financial analytics that surface drivers, exceptions, and trends through automated reporting and dashboards.
2) Automation, Reporting Tools, and AI Enablement
- Build and maintain automated workflows using Alteryx, Power Automate, Power BI, and scripting to eliminate manual steps, remove handoffs, and improve reliability.
- Support dashboards and self‑service reporting tools that centralize data, reduce manual effort, and enable teammates to independently analyze financial data.
- Build and maintain Excel-based automation (macros/VBA) where appropriate to accelerate processing, tracking, and repeatable reporting steps.
- Leverage AI capabilities where appropriate to accelerate analysis, anomaly detection, and process insights.
3) Business Analysis (Requirements, Documentation, and Delivery Support)
- Gather and document requirements through stakeholder interviews/workshops, translating needs into clear documentation and acceptance criteria.
- Create and maintain artifacts such as process maps, data mappings, user stories, and Business Requirement Documents/functional specs to support implementations and enhancements.
- Support testing and adoption activities by helping define test scenarios, coordinating UAT participation, and capturing feedback/issues for resolution.
- Contribute to training enablement by organizing documentation repositories and supporting ongoing reference materials.
4) Quality and Controls
- Operate with a quality-first mindset: perform validation checks, maintain clear audit trails where required, and follow defined standards to reduce rework.
- Continuously identify improvement opportunities and propose incremental improvements that shift time from low-value repetitive steps to higher-value analysis.
- Document and share lessons learned to help scale improvements and avoid repeat issues across similar processes.
5) Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
- Partner closely with business users to understand needs, communicate progress, and deliver solutions aligned to department goals.
- Coordinate deliverables and updates in the tools and formats that best support the team (Excel, email, meetings, tracking lists), ensuring transparency and follow-through.
- Support teammates’ process improvement efforts by providing hands‑on assistance with their initiatives, including office hours, targeted training, and project‑level support; mentor and enable peers pursuing Six Sigma certification.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Working knowledge of Alteryx, Power BI, Power Automate, and Microsoft Power Platform tools.
- Ability to understand and document business processes and translate them into automated solutions.
- Strong Excel skills (data cleanup, pivots, formulas); comfort working with large datasets and performing tie-outs/validation.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to document work in a structured, consistent, and repeatable manner.
Highly Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with VBA scripting, SharePoint, and/or SQL.
- Working understanding of financial concepts and systems such as SAP and BOBJ.
- Familiarity with Agile or structured delivery methods and artifacts (user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog hygiene).
- Lean / Six Sigma interest or certification pathway (Yellow/Green Belt) and interest in continuous improvement practices.
