Position Specific Description
As a Benefits Consultant I at NextEra Energy, you will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day administration of our company's 401k, Canadian RRSP, Education Assistance, Survivor Support, and Legal benefits. Your role will involve working closely with vendors to ensure seamless benefits delivery and addressing employees' questions regarding these benefits. You will need to have proficiency with Excel and a keen eye for continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
• Manage the daily administration of 401k, Canadian RRSP, Education Assistance, Survivor Support, and Legal benefits, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
• Collaborate with vendors to ensure timely and effective delivery of benefits.
• Address and resolve any ad hoc employee issues or questions regarding their benefits, providing excellent customer service.
• Utilize Excel to analyze data, generate reports to track performance, utilization, and identify trends for process improvement.
• Implement and recommend process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of benefit administration.
• Conduct regular audits of benefit programs to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory updates, and best practices in benefits administration.
• Assist in the development and communication of benefits materials and resources to employees.
• Support the annual benefits enrollment process and other benefits-related projects as needed.
• Conducts research and industry benchmarking to identify opportunity areas to increase participation and to stay competitive with industry trends and the needs of our customers
• For all assigned vendor contracts, ensures we are realizing ROI on our vendors and programs by maximizing the services available, including managing to contract terms (guarantees/performance of the vendor, contract extensions, planning and conducting RFP’s)

Employees in this role assist in the planning, implementation, and administration of one or more cost-effective benefit programs including life, retirement, medical, dental, vision, worker's compensation, disability, time-off, and other health and welfare plans.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Participates or leads in the design, planning, and administration of one or more corporate employee benefits programs
- Supports and administers health and welfare plans and programs including medical, dental, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, reimbursement accounts, retirement plans, and paid time off
- Prepares basic to moderately complex cost analysis of applicable employee benefits programs
- Performs benchmarking analyses to ensure the competitiveness of applicable benefit programs and recommends enhancements or new programs based on competitiveness, employee needs and industry trends
- Analyzes and interprets data related to benefits program utilization and costs, providing insights for decision making, and uses data to identify trends and recomend program enhancements or changes
- Identifies process improvements, prepares analyses and presentations, documents processes and recommends process improvements
- Prepares and reviews more complex communications, including supporting detail for applicable audiences, and leverages Axios style writing
- Prepares PowerPoint presentations that comply with corporate standards
- Communicates effectively both written and verbally with individuals, internal matrix partners, external vendors and employees, and works independently with individuals on the immediate team, direct supervisor, external vendors and employees on issues and correspondence, and collaborates with matrixed partners
- Participates in or leads special pojects, as directed
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Grad / GED
- Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
- Experience: 2+ years
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree
- Certified Benefits Professional (CBP)
- Certified EE Benefit Specialist (CEBS)
