Position Specific Description

Florida Power & Light is committed to being an industry leader in environmental protection and stewardship, including wildlife and habitat protection. We are working to increase the positive environmental impact of FPL’s universal solar power energy centers through our solar stewardship program by implementing conservation opportunities unique to Florida and its diverse ecosystems.

This position is on the Environmental Outreach team of the Corporate Environmental Services Department supporting this innovative program. Working with both internal and external stakeholders, you will feel a sense of pride in knowing that you are helping a leading clean energy company even further improve the environment.

This role will provide specialized environmental expertise and project management skills to design, implement, and ensure success of environmental stewardship plans for universal scale solar energy centers across the state of Florida.

Though this role may occasionally engage in activities listed in the Job Overview and Duties and Responsibilities below, primary responsibilities include:


  • Wetland and terrestrial habitat assessments to determine restoration objectives
  • Perform project planning; implementation scheduling and oversight; success criteria evaluation and reporting; and adaptive management
  • Work cross functionally to develop achievable and sustainable stewardship elements
  • Manage vendor contracts/purchase orders/invoices
  • Track success of program elements


A successful candidate has more than three years of experience with Florida flora/fauna and habitats, invasive plant identification and management and terrestrial and wetland habitat restoration. Additionally, the candidate is proficient ArcGIS/ArcGIS Pro software, proficient at interacting with the public at public meetings or during other outreach events and advanced oral and written communication skills, analysis and problem solving. The candidate is willing to travel in-state, with the potential for overnight stays.

Job Overview

Employees in this position with instruction, guidance and direction from others provides environmental compliance and permitting technical support for the company Power Delivery business unit which includes transmission and distribution operations in Florida and transmission operations in the United States and Canada.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviews and comments on environmental assessment reports
  • Supports environmental permitting for business unit construction and maintenance jobs
  • Responds to customer environmental inquiries
  • Reviews environmental sample analytical results and compliance inspections and supports resolution of identified issues
  • Provides project management support
  • Communicates effectively on environmental permitting and environmental issues
  • Develops environmental processes, procedures and technical reports
  • Develops and delivers environmental awareness training
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 0+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
  • Six Sigma Master Black Belt
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
