Position Specific Description

The Agile Leader in the APO is responsible for coaching and mentoring Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers, Agile Product Owners, Managers, and Executives to leverage Agile Principles, practices and frameworks. This role serves as a subject matter expert on scaling Agile, including the use of scaling frameworks and is able to help organizations identify their value stream. Our ideal candidate will work closely with, and will have full exposure to all areas and levels of IT. Our ideal candidate will work to identify the most impactful way to drive improvements in agile maturity while demonstrating quantifiable progress towards achieving higher performing teams and improved business outcomes. We're looking for a servant-leader that is passionate in guiding teams to deliver features with high velocity and top quality. We believe that a positive, trusting and engaged team is the path to success in product delivery, and this role will promote that culture within these teams.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

We are looking for individuals with a strong Agile delivery track record. Extensive work experience as an Agile Coach and in-depth knowledge of procedural DevOps.

  • Plays an instrumental role in the organization’s Agile transformation, acts as a change agent, and shows strong leadership skills with a positive and collaborative attitude
  • Trains and coaches leaders, teams, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindset
  • Promotes and encourages collaboration and transparency and builds trusting relationships between business, delivery, and other entities within the organization
  • Embraces a continuous improvement mindset, and drives the use of agile engineering best practices and innovation
  • Drive continuous collaboration and communication through various opportunities (COP’s, Leadership Meetings, Team level meetings, Program Increment Planning, etc. ○ Assess the current processes/practices and support defining an appropriate Agile delivery approach
  • Develops best practices and guidelines for any Agile role or Process, Project or Product
  • Facilitates periodic synchronization meetings across several different onsite and distributed delivery teams
  • Coach each role within the SAFe framework on adopting an Agile mindset through the use of best practices 
  • Support organizations in assessing and developing value streams 
  • Support the development and application of outcome based Agile metrics
  • Design or modify tools to see into Agile teams delivery, through a resource to portfolio lens 
  • Provide guidelines on Agile ceremonies: Sprint Zero, Project Kick Off, PI Planning, Stan Ups, Backlog Refinement, Retrospectives, Demos, etc.
  • Provide guidelines on the formation of Epics, Features, and User Stories
  • Provide guidelines on taking Initiatives down to Epics, Features and User Stories ○ Performs other job-related duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • At least 4 - 6 years of verifiable experience in Professional Coaching
  • Be knowledgeable and passionate about Agile and Business Transformation
  • Extensive knowledge of Lean, Scrum, Kanban, and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Extensive knowledge on Agile tooling
  • Demonstrable experience with Lean-Startup or other product innovation techniques
  • Working knowledge of DevOps Framework and tools
  • Willing and able to contribute to Agile Communities of Practice in addition to coaching work
  • Must be a strong and effective communicator
  • Experience in removing impediments, resolving conflicts, and negotiation
  • Experience in developing and facilitating training

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Agile certified (e.g. SPC, CSM, PSM)
  • Supervisor/Management Experience: 5+ years

Job Overview

This position guides teams in the execution of agile initiatives to deliver customer value. Employees in this role train and coach in the use of Scrum, Lean, Kanban, XP, and scale agile framework practices.

  •  Prepares program and release backlogs, as well as team and program objectives 
  •  Tracks, promotes, and publishes completed program features and program and team objectives 
  •  Manages risk and dependencies, communicates and escalates impediments to facilitate transparency, and reduces bottlenecks 
  •  Embraces a continuous improvement mindset, and drives the use of agile engineering best practices and innovation 
  •  Reports on standardized program-level metrics, and understands, tracks, and operates within the program budget 
  •  Plays an instrumental role in the organization's Agile transformation, acts as a change agent, and shows strong leadership skills with a positive and collaborative attitude 
  •  Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED 
  •  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience 
  •  Experience: 6+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisor/Management/Leadership Experience: 2+ years
