Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy IT is seeking to hire an IT Financial Services Product Owner. This individual will report into the IT Director of Risk Management.  The ideal candidate will have a background in financial services with focus on Insurance & Risk Management.  The candidate must have experience supporting internal business partners in an IT liaison business partner relationship.  They will be experienced in the role of IT Product Owner responsible for supporting the growth strategy of our Palms Insurance & NEE Risk Management team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and build a business partner relationship with the Palms Insurance & Risk Management departments at NextEra Energy
  • Support all IT needs from idea generation to funding requests, to project execution, and transition-to-support
  • Manage relationships with external IT software suppliers in support of the Palms Insurance & Risk Management areas
  • Consulting expert in the areas of Palms Insurance & Risk Management, SDLC, software and platform implementation
  • Coordinate amongst other internal IT teams including Architecture, Cyber, Infrastructure, Application Hosting, among others
  • Work with external supplier to implement an end-to-end insurance software platform for Palms Insurance & Risk Management including underwriting, claims, finance & accounting, ceded reinsurance, actuarial, risk management, structure /strategy, analytics, operations, legal and governance
  • Owns the end-to-end project management function for all implementation programs and projects supporting this discipline
  • Preferred experience in other areas of insurance and risk management and financial services including policy origination, planning, forecasting, P&L's, reporting/analytics, reinsurance, actuarial, and strategy/deal structure
  • Familiarity with industry software including RMS, ARCTOS, QRM, and Verisk preferred
  • Experience with Amazon AWS snowflake preferred

Job Overview

This position guides teams in the execution of agile initiatives to deliver customer value. Employees in this role train and coach in the use of Scrum, Lean, Kanban, XP, and scale agile framework practices.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Trains and coaches leaders, teams, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindset
  • Contributes in Communities of Practice (CoP), within the agile network
  • Promotes and encourages collaboration and transparency and builds trusting relationships between business, delivery, and other entities within the organization
  • Facilitates periodic synchronization meetings across several different onsite and distributed delivery teams
  • Prepares program and release backlogs, as well as team and program objectives
  • Tracks, promotes, and publishes completed program features and program and team objectives
  • Manages risk and dependencies, communicates and escalates impediments to facilitate transparency, and reduces bottlenecks
  • Embraces a continuous improvement mindset, and drives the use of agile engineering best practices and innovation
  • Reports on standardized program-level metrics, and understands, tracks, and operates within the program budget
  • Plays an instrumental role in the organization’s Agile transformation, acts as a change agent, and shows strong leadership skills with a positive and collaborative attitude
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 7+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisor/Management Experience: 2+ years
