Position Specific Description
This position entails compiling transactional data related to FPL’s third-party power purchases and sales for inclusion in various regulatory reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. The individual in this role will support ETA Accounting Managers by posting invoices, researching queries, and training/assisting ETA staff. They will ensure accurate calculations and proper recording of transactions in the company's financial statements in accordance with GAAP, maintaining compliance with company policies, procedures, and SOX controls.
This role requires collaboration with PMI front office, Trading Risk Management, NEER business managers, NEER Financial Controllers, counterparties, auditors, NEE tax, FPL finance, and IT teams. The person will provide accounting support, troubleshoot issues, and identify solutions to ensure precise accounting and reporting.
Job Specific Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Energy Trading Accounting (ETA), EMT, and FPL Regulatory team staff regarding the A6, A7, A8, A9, and A12 FPSC schedules, and related FERC pages
- Support ETA Managers with posting invoices
- Conduct data analysis and reviews, working with PMI/EMT front office, business management, customers and IT to resolve data issues and disputes efficiently
- Train, monitor, and provide guidance to lower-level staff as needed
- Execute various accounting responsibilities including posting invoices, month-end close, financial reporting, audit support, AR & AP aging reviews, and providing variance explanations
- Support the development of design requirements to automate new and existing processes, and perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Other duties and special projects as assigned by the ETA Accounting Director

• Oversees the preparation of financial reports and maintains the integrity of financial systems
• Develops, analyzes, and interprets accounting information and results
• Provides analytical support of financial statements and general ledger
• Prepares financial statements and related disclosures
• Ensures SEC reporting and SOX compliance and system of internal and accounting controls
• Consolidates multiple company financial statements
• Maintains system of accounts, books and records on transactions and assets
• Coordinates annual audit with independent auditors
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• High School Grad / GED
• Bachelor's Degree
• Experience: 7+ years
Preferred Qualifications
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance
• Master's Degree
• Supervisor/Management Experience:1+ years
