Position Specific Description

 

NextEra Energy Inc. and Florida Power and Light are seeking an Accounting Manager – Property Operations at the corporate headquarters in Juno Beach. In this role you will report directly to the Director of Property Accounting. Areas of responsibility include: involvement with capital vs O&M decisions for non-regulated fixed assets, day-to-day management of the lease accounting process, management of reimbursable network upgrades and accounting for land rights for the non-regulated NEER portfolio. This person will also be responsible for accounting for projects under build-transfer arrangements (BTAs) and for capitalization decisions surrounding the Cloud and internally developed software. You will interact with the business unit both in the role of accounting oversight and in optimizing accounting results and processes and therefore, your ability to work collaboratively with other areas of the business will be critical. You will add value by being responsible for special projects, including researching, analyzing and reporting on issues that affect the company, making recommendations for solutions, and following through to resolution. Finally, you will be expected to provide guidance and direction to other team members, review accounting entries and assist the director in developing the property accounting staff.
 
A background in Public Accounting with Big 4 experience is preferred along with previous supervisory or management experience.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Prepares financial reports that are in compliance with GAAP and FERC, in a timely manner, to accurately reflect the financial position of the Company
•   Provides accounting oversight to businesses and departments within the Company and ensures proper controls are in place for accurate financial reporting
•   Ensures financial data integrity through the implementation and maintenance of a strong control environment
•   Keeps abreast of, and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relevant company policies, practices, and procedures
•   Manages professional staff, and effectively communicates and executes performance management
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor's Degree
•  Experience: 8+ years
•  Supervisor/Management Experience: 2+ years

Preferred Qualifications

•  Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
•  Master's Degree
