Position Specific Description

The ISO and Power Accounting team is responsible for settlement, recording and reporting of electricity Independent System Operator (ISO) transactions, full requirements and Energy Management Services (EMS) contracts with complicated settlement structures. In this Management role, you will oversee and lead regional ISO trade settlements teams to ensure work is completed in accordance with company policies and procedures, Sarbanes Oxley control requirements and NextEra Company Values.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accounting and reporting support to the NextEra Energy trading and marketing organization,  NextEra Energy Resources (NEER), NEER Business Management and other Finance/Accounting business units.
  • Implement process improvements to improve the accuracy and cycle time of the Accounting information provided to the businesses supported  
  • Ensure financial data integrity by monitoring, reviewing and maintaining a strong control environment
  • Actively lead staff and effectively communicate and execute the performance management process
  • Special projects as assigned by Senior Director 
  •  

* Energy Trading or ISO Accounting experience is highly preferred.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Prepares financial reports that are in compliance with GAAP and FERC, in a timely manner, to accurately reflect the financial position of the Company
•   Provides accounting oversight to businesses and departments within the Company and ensures proper controls are in place for accurate financial reporting
•   Ensures financial data integrity through the implementation and maintenance of a strong control environment
•   Keeps abreast of, and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relevant company policies, practices, and procedures
•   Manages professional staff, and effectively communicates and executes performance management
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor's Degree
•  Experience: 8+ years
•  Supervisor/Management Experience: 2+ years

Preferred Qualifications

•  Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
•  Master's - Business Administration
