Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy Marketing, LLC is seeking an Accountant I to add to their team. The Accountant I will be responsible for the monthly journal entries, intra month and month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, AR/AP clearing, and monitoring the SAP interface and push errors. This role will also provide SAP-related support to NextEra Energy Marketing (NEM) and Florida Power & Light (FPL) Energy Trade Floor (EMT) trading organization. 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Accounting and Reporting
    • Daily
    • Recording of manual journal entries in the general ledger
    • Post non-PO AP Invoices for EMT in SAP
    • Code General & Administrative (G&A) and NEM invoices in workflow in SAP
    • Monitor Sub-ledger (Phoenix) to Ledger (SAP) interface and push errors into the ledger
    • Monthly
    • Perform AR/AP Clearing and prepare the AR/AP report to meet with Managers
    • Prepare Balance Sheet Reconciliations – Monthly and Quarterly
    • Prepare Roll Forwards for Equity Investments
    • Track and prepare the G&A Accruals
    • Prepare the Monthly Validation Report
    • Prepare the monthly PC Reclass File
    • General
    • Create PO Shopping Carts, monitor PO’s and confirm invoices related to PO’s
    • Assist with Vendor Maintenance Setup / Winshuttle Requests
    • Other duties as assigned by manager
  • SOX Compliance
    • Ensure energy trading transactions are recorded and reported in compliance with SOX processes
    • Identify and report any compliance issues and maintain data integrity
    • Provide support for audit requests timely and accurately
  • Special Projects
    • Assist in the development of processes and controls

Job Duties & Responsibilities


•   Prepares financial reports in a timely manner that are in compliance with GAAP and accurately reflect the financial status of the company
•   Assures accounting integrity of corporate financial data through the implementation of appropriate internal controls
•   Independently prepares schedules and journal entries
•   Keeps abreast of and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relative company policies, practices and procedures
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance / Business
•  Experience: 2+ years
