Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy Inc. is seeking an Accountant I at the Juno Beach location. In this role you will report to the Accounting Supervisor and focus mainly on Regulatory Accounting related activities.

 

Specific duties and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Review and post journal entries for revenue, receivables, accruals, amortization and prepaid expenses.
  • Prepare general ledger reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Review monthly transactions for regulated companies and work with other departments to understand/explain variances.
  • Prepare Monthly and Quarterly reports for internal and external reporting.
  • Review quarterly and annual financial statements, footnotes, and FERC reports
  • Assist with year-end external audit, including preparing rollforward schedules and providing supporting documentation.
  • Create and update desktop procedures for assigned tasks
  • Ad Hoc reporting as required

Job Duties & Responsibilities


•   Prepares financial reports in a timely manner that are in compliance with GAAP and accurately reflect the financial status of the company
•   Assures accounting integrity of corporate financial data through the implementation of appropriate internal controls
•   Independently prepares schedules and journal entries
•   Keeps abreast of and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relative company policies, practices and procedures
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance / Business
•  Experience: 2+ years

•  Master's - Business Administration
