Position Specific Description

FPLS Cloud Team is looking for an experienced AWS cloud expert to provide governance and business financial support for our AWS cloud services while assisting in managing the cloud spend and providing guidance on opportunities for cost optimization, governance, and architecture. Team focused and strong collaboration individual is critical for the success of this role. 

 

Job Description 

  • Provide summaries and detailed usage statistics for resources offering actionable intelligence to right-size and scale services efficiently
  • Identify and facilitate opportunities to optimize and reduce costs to realize savings 
  • Maintain cloud usage transparency to educate and prioritize workload optimization partnering with teams and financial stakeholders 
  • Support agile teams in understanding their cloud bills based on their business goals and budget
  • Oversee cloud billing and managing the cloud Compute Savings Plan and Reserved Instance purchases
  • Assist teams containerizing their applications with Docker or Kubernetes (ECS, EKS, Fargate) 
  • Evaluate and investigate data patterns and anomalies to derive insightful knowledge that can inform strategic and operational decisions
  • Lead regular FinOps meetings providing expert advice with consulting from AWS on cloud financial management activities
  • Configure, manage, and support cloud cost optimization tools 
  • Build and execute on roadmap definition, strategic vision and governance related to AWS

 

Job Qualifications

  • Strong technical and financial experience in AWS. 
  • Experience in cloud expense management using FinOps disciplines within the AWS platform
  • Familiarity with cost structure of AWS products and services 
  • Scripting knowledge and experience desired
  • Docker or Kubernetes experienced desired using ECS or EKS
  • Experience in cost management tactics such as enterprise-wide discount programs and commitment plans (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot, Dedicated Hosts
  • Experience with advanced Excel functions required
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret data and provide insights
  • Experience in creating visualization dashboards with PowerBI or AWS QuickSight is desirable
  • Experienced with tools such as AWS Console, AWS Cost Explorer, Apptio
  • FinOps Cloud Practitioner and certification is highly desirable
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and experience presenting formally or informally

  • Oversees value stream by focusing on cost and risks of technology portfolio to meet business needs
  • Supports and fosters innovative technologies to deliver new ideas that enable business transformation
  • Ensures high levels of ongoing system and application performance in production environments
  • Oversees development of processes and tools to automate code releases from development to operations (DevOps)
  • Attracts, develops and retains a high-performing and diverse team
  • Establishes and drives technology roadmaps that align with current and future business needs
  • Manages third party technical and outsourcing relationships to deliver project and operational support objectives
  • Ensures technology processes are conducted in line with applicable standards and company policies
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 7+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Supervisor/Management Experience: 2+ years
