Position Specific Description

 

•           Responsible for evaluating data, initiating action, and providing recommendations for plant operation to ensure continued nuclear safety and long-term asset preservation.

•           Utilize and maintain complex analytical instrumentation while verifying precision and accuracy via quality assurance and control methods.

•           Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses including sampling, in-service testing or testing and measuring of radioactive contaminants and chemical properties of various liquid and gaseous streams in nuclear plant systems and components.

•           Implement safe laboratory practices and ensure compliance with regulations, procedures, and policies in the conduct of daily work.

•           Maintain records, evaluate trends, and develop new/more efficient methods.

•           Train and provide guidance to new or less experienced nuclear chemistry technicians.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Under limited supervision:

  • Performs quantitative and qualitative analyses including sampling, in-service testing or testing and measuring of radioactive contaminants and chemical properties of various liquid and gaseous streams in nuclear plant systems and components
  • Uses safe laboratory practices and ensures compliance with regulations, procedures and policies in conduct of daily work
  • Maintains records, evaluates trends and develops new methods
  • Trains and provides guidance to new or less experienced technicians
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Experience: 3+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical Certificate Program
  • Associate's Degree
  • Bachelor's - Sciences

Special Requirements

Nuclear Specific Requirements:

  • Must meet shift qualifications and have 3+ years of chemistry technician experience
  • ELT qualified individuals or candidates with an Associate's of Science degree may be considered as having equivalent experience

 

Nuclear Specific Preferences:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's in Chemistry or related field
