Position Specific Description

This position develops, communicates, maintains, and analyzes project schedules, primarily for power plant overhauls.  Specific responsibilities include:

Review Asset Management System (Maximo) project for work order/task understanding.

Utilize Maximo project to develop project schedule in Primavera and/or Microsoft Project software, integrating all work orders/tasks and plant operational activities into a critical path/resource-loaded schedule.

Engage and collaborate with all project stakeholders in the development and maintenance of the schedule to assure schedule accuracy/practicality as well as “buy-in” from each stakeholder; stakeholders include work order planners, execution supervisors/coordinators, staff engineers, plant personnel, contractors, etc.

Maintain project schedule throughout the project, utilizing the schedule as a tool to analyze the project end date, task sequencing, resource loading, etc.  Provide analytical direction to Outage Manager and supervisors/coordinators to optimize the schedule

Use Oracle P6 to communicate float, forecast, and report when tasks are sliding and the critical path completion dates are in jeopardy.

Leads and participates in meetings to communicate and support scheduling activities.

Evaluates scheduling conflicts and identifies opportunities and workarounds.

Publishes outage work schedules and monitors progress.

Prepares and analyzes outage work schedules to optimize equipment availability and manpower usage and recommends appropriate modifications.

Integrates site maintenance plans, site outages, and administrative activities into a master schedule supporting strategic planning and budget control.

Develops broad technical and communication skills through self-study and internal and external training opportunities.

Leads and executes process improvement projects using Six Sigma principles.

Manages internal controls processes and identifies and mitigates control weaknesses.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications.

  • Strong knowledge and a minimum of 5 years of experience power plant maintenance.
  • 5 years of experience in schedule development and management
  • 5 years of experience with IBM Maximo or similar asset management software, SAP, Excel PowerPivot, Microsoft Business Intelligence, and Microsoft Project and/or Primavera (P6)
  • Six Sigma Certification; Yellow Belt or higher

Job Overview

This job assists in the execution of the Corporate and NextEra Power Generation business processes. With limited guidance, employees in this role are responsible for O & M and capital budget preparation and reporting, cash flow management, and financial analysis and reporting. Individuals plan, schedule, communicate, and coordinate the annual budgeting process, the monthly re-forecasts, and month-end close for the site, and ensure that all transactions are in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley. Employees in this position also focus on the continuous improvement of spending, risks and opportunities, and costing methods in accordance with corporate policy and business objectives.                                                 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs all cost accounting activities including variance analysis, standard cost development, activity-based costing, and inventory control
  • Provides financial leadership by supporting Operations leadership in decision-making and strategy development
  • Supports new lines of business and finds ways to reduce overhead costs per job
  • Provides reporting and analysis for all operations activity including productivity, capital and overhead spending, forecasting, budgeting, absorption, sales, and inventory and operations planning
  • Prepares and distributes financial reports and indicators and explains financial results to non-financial audiences
  • Communicates and explains operational performance through P & L
  • Collaborates effectively with colleagues from all departments
  • Leads and executes process improvement projects using Six Sigma principles
  • Manages internal controls processes and identifies and mitigates control weaknesses
  • Extracts, organizes, analyzes, and reports data in a manner that is useful and relevant for making business decisions
  • Develops broad technical and communication skills through self-study and internal and external training opportunities
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
