Position Specific Description

The Electrical Training Specialist supports the training and qualification of all PGD Fossil employees, with a focus on electrical systems and safety. This role is critical to ensuring workforce readiness and technical excellence across fossil power generation sites. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in power generation electrical systems, equipment operation and maintenance, and a deep understanding of electrical hazards including shock and arc flash mitigation, PPE use, and grounding practices for low and medium voltage equipment. Familiarity with the ADDIE Training Model is essential for structuring effective training programs.

 

This position will contribute to the development and delivery of training programs, including hands-on, classroom, and remote instruction. The candidate should be proficient in instructional design tools and learning management systems, and capable of producing high-quality training materials.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver electrical training programs for PGD Fossil employees
  • Support qualification processes and ensure alignment with safety and operational standards
  • Create instructional content using tools such as Area9, UPerform, and SAP SuccessFactors LMS
  • Provide technical expertise on equipment including:
    • MV/LV Switchgear
    • MOVs (Motor Operated Valves)
    • DC Systems & Batteries
    • Motors and Generators
    • Motor Controls
    • MV/LV Breakers
  • Collaborate with site leadership to identify skill gaps and implement targeted training solutions
  • Maintain training records and manage classroom offerings

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in electrical systems within power generation environments
  • Strong understanding of fossil plant operations and maintenance practices
  • Experience with instructional design and adult learning principles
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to support training at other PGD sites

Job Duties & Responsibilities


•   Provides full-time technical support to the operations and business unit personnel
•   Performs system testing and documentation to critical systems during significant changes and/or upgrade
•   Analyzes and identifies the root cause of - and implements comprehensive technical solutions to - complex application deficiencies and system issues
•   Provides technical leadership in the functional specification, design and implementation of new (as well as enhancements to existing) security center applications and tools
•   Develops new (and improves existing) processes with goal of increasing productivity, reducing risk of system failure, promoting efficiency in work flow, and meeting or exceeding the key operational performance targets
•   Establishes, documents and maintains procedures and guidelines related to the day-to-day operational support provided to the operations and business unit personnel
•   Travels to power plants for onsite troubleshooting support
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned
