Position Specific Description
Our Geology & Reservoir Engineering Department in the Gas Infrastructure Business Unit is looking for a Sr Petrophysicist to join their team in Houston, TX.
This position is an integral part of a team to identify and evaluate hydrocarbon zones of interest for development by Trinity Operating (NextEra Gas Infrastructure). The primary focus will be on the Woodford, Haynesville and STX shale plays. Employees in this role will assist in the drilling of multi-unit Horizontal wells by creating and updating petrophysical models from well log and core data with regional trends and performance history. This position is an integral part of a team to identify and evaluate hydrocarbon zones of interest for development by Trinity Operating (NextEra Gas Infrastructure).
Bachelor’s Degree in Geology/Geoscience is highly preferred.
Job Overview
Employees in this role will be responsible for analyzing wireline log data from drilled wells to understand and model the subsurface. This job will require the employee to create petrophysical models that incorporate hard rock data from cuttings or cores to calibrate the petrophysical logs. Employees will work directly with Geoscientists and Reservoir engineers to evaluate the subsurface. Employees will be expected to present technical work to management to help in decision making.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Creates Petrophysical and Geomechanical models
- Analyzes and interpret petrophysical logs
- Uses computer programming to script workflows
- Designs logging runs for pilot wells
- Designs coring of pilot wells
- Supports reserves determination and economic evaluations
- Mentors less experienced team members and interns
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience: 4+ years
