Position Specific Description

At NextEra Energy our people are our biggest asset. The position primarily provides support in maintaining a GIS database for reporting purposes.  The position reports to the Director Regulatory Affairs & Asset Integrity, under whose supervision the individual will perform the duties listed below.  Beyond standard GIS skills and concepts, the individual should possess experience working with relational databases, preferably within a linear referencing data model.  Individuals should also be comfortable with the concepts of data integrity, data migration, and data maintenance.  Individuals must be able to work projects of varying terms and scopes and meet their strict deadlines. 


  • Edit and maintain GIS data in a versioned editing environment
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and enter data into GIS
  • Perform records research of specific data requests
  • Perform advanced analysis of data within the GIS
  • Develop procedures and instructions for new and established processes
  • Report and present information and analysis to team leads in a clear, concise manner
  • Understand customer requests and be able to provide them a variety of deliverables
  • Supporting Esri mobile solution
  • Development of ArcGIS Online mapping solutions
  • Development of ArcGIS Apps for field data collection
  • Data digitization, conversion, organization and management
  • Geodatabase management and modification
  • Cartographic representation of spatial information
  • State and Federal map filings
  • Participation and support of Public Awareness and Damage Prevention Programs

Job Overview

Employees in this role will lead team members in projects related to energy industry specific GIS application and database development, research, spatial analysis, and map production. This job will identify, evaluate and execute renewable energy project development by leveraging spatial data and other industry specific data sources.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Works with management and project developers to understand and prioritize user requirements
•   Coordinates successful completion of projects including quality deliverables
•   Performs data modeling to support moderately complex special products including the design of maps, digital data, reports and statistics
•   Identifies and delivers innovative solutions to meet dynamic business needs for the company
•   Produces high quality maps and posters for management to use in communicating and marketing the company's strategy to state and federal government representatives
•   Provides analysis and support to all business units within the Company by developing and providing GIS application/tool training and mentoring
•   Provides support to users of desktop and web GIS applications
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  High School Grad / GED
•  Bachelor's Degree
•  Experience:5+ years

•  Master's Degree
