Position Specific Description
2-year project-bound role with benefits and the potential for full-time employment.
NextEra Energy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee a critical data migration and system integration project. This project will also involve process changes within the retail deregulated power market. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science or management of information systems, with a preference for those holding PMP and Scaled Agile Scrum Master certifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Migration:
- Lead and manage the data migration project, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data.
- Develop and execute detailed project plans for data migration, including pre-migration testing, integration, and post-migration validation.
System Integration:
- Oversee the integration of disparate systems to ensure seamless communication and data flow.
- Collaborate with technical teams to establish and implement integration protocols and interfaces.
Process Changes and Analytics:
- Drive change management initiatives related to billing, transactions, collections, and invoice delivery within the deregulated market.
- Conduct process analytics to assess the current (as-is) processes and identify gaps from legacy to target billing systems.
- Re-map processes, define future (to-be) processes, and address any gaps in the current processes.
- Design internal solutions or work with vendors to implement appropriate solutions that align with the target billing system.
Stakeholder Management:
- Effectively communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and finance, to ensure project goals are met.
Collaboration with Business SMEs:
- Engage with business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather requirements, provide solutions, and seek feedback.
- Ensure that the proposed solutions are aligned with business needs and effectively address identified gaps.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings with SMEs to drive consensus and ensure stakeholder buy-in.
Collaboration with Development Teams:
- Coordinate efforts with both onsite and offshore development teams to ensure timely and quality delivery of project components.
- Provide clear and concise project requirements and expectations to development teams.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration between project stakeholders and development teams.
Project Planning and Execution:
- Utilize project management methodologies and best practices to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Monitor project performance, manage risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Resource Tracking and Budget Management:
- Track project resources to ensure optimal utilization and manage resource constraints effectively.
- Monitor and control project budget and burn rate, ensuring financial tracking aligns with project objectives.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies to handle potential project risks proactively.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) and Scaled Agile Scrum Master certifications are preferred.
- Proven experience in data migration and switch-based migration projects.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change management and implement business process improvements in billing, transactions, collections, and invoice delivery within the deregulated market.
- Strong knowledge of the retail deregulated power market.
- Excellent project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Knowledge of resource tracking and risk mitigation.
- Ability to monitor and control budget and burn rate effectively.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work with both onsite and offshore development teams effectively.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Trains and coaches leaders, teams, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindset
- Contributes in Communities of Practice (CoP), within the agile network
- Promotes and encourages collaboration and transparency and builds trusting relationships between business, delivery, and other entities within the organization
- Facilitates periodic synchronization meetings across several different onsite and distributed delivery teams
- Prepares program and release backlogs, as well as team and program objectives
- Tracks, promotes, and publishes completed program features and program and team objectives
- Manages risk and dependencies, communicates and escalates impediments to facilitate transparency, and reduces bottlenecks
- Embraces a continuous improvement mindset, and drives the use of agile engineering best practices and innovation
- Reports on standardized program-level metrics, and understands, tracks, and operates within the program budget
- Plays an instrumental role in the organization’s Agile transformation, acts as a change agent, and shows strong leadership skills with a positive and collaborative attitude
