Position Specific Description
We are seeking an experience Sr. Risk Analyst to join our growing team in Houston. This role reports to the Sr Risk Manager in Houston and will be responsible for overseeing market risk management activities across Gexa's power and gas portfolio. The successful candidate will play a critical role in establishing and managing comprehensive risk assessment, monitoring, and mitigation strategies for our expanding energy trading and retail operations.
Job Overview
The Senior Market Risk Analyst serves as a subject matter expert who independently conducts complex risk evaluations and collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive risk strategies. This highly skilled role requires a deep understanding of quantitative methods, enabling informed decision-making and influence over market risk initiatives. This position is pivotal in advancing risk management practices and guiding junior analysts.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Develop and calibrate sophisticated risk models using quant methods
• Conduct in-depth scenario analyses and stress tests to evaluate risks
• Analyze complex transactions, providing insights on risk and profitability
• Lead independent price verification efforts and propose necessary reserves
• Engage with various departments to support strategy development and risk mitigation
• Maintain high standards for data integrity and risk reporting
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum 4+ years of experience
• OR 3+ years of experience with trading experience
