Position Specific Description

This position is part of the growing Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Team within NextEra Energy’s Power Generation Division (PGD).

 

The PGD - RNG Operations Support Engineer must have solid written and verbal communication, technical and analytical skills. PGD - RNG Operations Support Engineer should possess extensive knowledge and experience with process unit operations, and able to perform highly skilled analytical engineering functions to maximize plant performance and availability.

 

This job is responsible for performing highly skilled analytical engineering functions. Employees in this role are responsible for rigorous technical analysis to optimize asset development and evaluating all performance and upside potential for all RNG assets. This role will provide continuous monitoring of the plan unit operations to ensure safety, desired yields and production rates.

 

The PGD - RNG Operations Support Engineer must demonstrate a strong aptitude in mechanical work, understands relevant regulatory requirements, capable of reading and implementing plans, equipment operating and maintenance manuals, and schematics and look for continual added performance.

 

Ideal candidate will need to be commercially minded, detailed oriented with strong analytical abilities, and can approach projects with creativity and entrepreneurial thinking. The individual will interface with multiple organizations within and outside of the division they support. The ability to build consensus and make quick, accurate and fact-based decisions are critical to success. Experience in a matrix environment is a strong plus, as is a high tolerance for uncertainty and flexibility to deal with unanticipated deliverables and tight deadlines.

 

Position Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

• Identify key production drivers specific to the plant design

• Evaluate and rank opportunities for optimization

• Prepare process simulation for the plant unit operation and update on a routine basis to optimize plant operation

• Keep abreast of new technology and leverage to support business solutions

• Maintain close working relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders

• Forecast/analyze current production trends, and proactively recommend productivity improvements based on analytical data and optimized measures

• Monitor site feedstock and operating data to provide optimized solutions for improvements

• Interact/supervise/manage vendors and/or sub-contractors to assist with operating, monitoring, and maintenaning the plants

• Review SOP and make recommendations to optimize plant operations to meet established KPI’s.

• Proactively work with Operations Teams to optimize and increase efficiency of their gas collection systems.

• Stay abreast of new developments, technologies and regulations impacting the LFGTE and RNG industries
• Leverage industry relationships to provide leads that result in growth for the Company.

• Support the annual budget process and monthly reviews, as required

• Strictly follow and enforce Company safety policies and administer Company policies and procedures with direct reports, contractors, and vendors.

• Demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding extensive engineering programs and activities

• Prepares documentation, technical reports, quantitative analyses, and presentation material for internal and external use

• Supports collaborations in cross-functional workstreams

 

Modeling Software application abilities preferred i.e.: Aspen HYSYS / ProMax, Unisim, Visual Basic
