Position Specific Description

Employees in this job take the lead role in special projects, including researching, analyzing, and reporting on issues that affect the company.  The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and take ownership of various projects, adding value through critical thinking and knowledge of the energy industry.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists in preparing financial reports in a timely manner that are in compliance with GAAP and accurately reflect the financial status of the company
  • Keeps abreast of and apply GAAP, SEC regulations, and relative company policies, practices and procedures
  • Ensures accounting integrity of corporate financial data through the implementation of appropriate internal controls
  • Prepares schedules and journal entries
  • Prepare monthly state and federal reports for the following agencies:
    • General Land Office (GLO)
    • Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (LDNR)
    • Office of Natural Resources Revenue (ONRR)
    • Commissioner of Land Office (CLO)
    • Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC)
  • Severance Tax Filings for the following States:  
    • Texas 
    • Louisiana
    • Oklahoma
  • Maintain tax rates and new setups within ERP.
  • Record severance tax reimbursements related to marketing fee adjustments.
  • Calculate and process owner interest payments.
  • Assist with owner inquiries 
  • Process the monthly royalty payment cycles and perform payment analysis.
  • Reconcile Royalty Suspense and facilitate monthly Debit Payable meeting.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly close calendar
  • Build and maintain cross-departmental relationships to ensure information flow
  • Special projects or task as needed

Employees in this role develop accounting policy through analysis of GAAP and business practices. Ensures accounting treatment is practical, cost-beneficial and accurately portrays the economic substance of business transactions.

Job Duties & Responsibilities


•   Analyzes proposed transactions for structure and proper accounting treatment under authoritative accounting literature
•   Reviews changes in technical accounting literature, develops positions and present to management
•   Maintains awareness of accounting issues being considered by regulatory bodies and advises management of important matters
•   Ensures consistent application of accounting policies
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance / Business
•  Experience: 6+ years

Preferred Qualifications


•  Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
•  Master's - Business Administration
•  Master's - Accounting / Finance
•  Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
