Position Specific Description

This position will be the drilling leader responsible for managing the drilling engineering and field drilling operations in Eagleford, Akorma Woodford, and Haynesville, ensuring both safe and efficient delivery of wells to the completions team.  The drilling manager will be accountable for all budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting of drilling costs on a monthly and annual basis. The successful candidate will be required to manage and lead vendors to achieve safe and efficient operations and comply with corporate HSE policies.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Field experience working as a field drilling engineer or well site leader on a drilling rig.  
  • 7-10 years of drilling engineering experience with a demonstrated track record of performance improvement in the areas of cost, drilling efficiency, and HSE.
  • Ability to review and revise drilling programs and best practices.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain cost forecasting system used for annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes.
  • Extended reach drilling (ERD) experience with laterals up to 20,000’ preferred.
  • Casing design experience for high temperature/high pressure and ERD wells using Stress Check or WellCat.
  • Drilling string design and hydraulics modeling experience desirable.  
  • Drilling engineering experience in the Haynesville, Eagleford, Arkoma Woodford, and Permian preferred.
     

Job Overview

This job is responsible for managing all aspects of drilling and completion operations. Leaders in this role manage, schedule, and safely execute drilling and completion operations to ensure the efficient growth of the Company. The successful candidate achieves drilling and completions capital and schedule targets in the safest possible manner.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages annual drilling and well completions capital budget
  • Plans, schedules, engineers, and executes all drilling and completion activities
  • Manages all drilling and completions well planning and engineering activities
  • Provides accurate and timely well cost estimates and AFE’s (authority for expenses)
  • Manages vendor and selection process for all drilling and completions services
  • Develops and maintains an accurate drilling schedule for drilling and completion operations and ensure that it is communicated throughout the asset
  • Ensures all operations have the ability to effectively discharge their well control responsibilities when required
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s - Engineering
  • Experience: 8+ years
  • Supervisor/Management Experience: 2+ years
