Position Specific Description

This position is responsible for managing Retail C&I originators and developing customer relationships for NextEra Retail, the competitive energy unit of NextEra Energy Resources. We are looking for a multi-faceted Retail C&I Sales Representative to join the fast-growing NextEra large retail C&I sales team. 

We are looking for a Director of Retail C&I Sales to help grow our sales team.  In this role, you will be responsible for identifying new prospects and executing a direct customer sales plan to grow our diverse offering of energy solutions including: C&I retail products, grid-level energy products, distributed generation (incl. renewables), behind-the-meter storage, and fleet mobility.  Your sales efforts will be aided by NextEra’s in-house energy optimization software that provides clients with next-gen energy analytics and optimization.  Individuals are responsible for developing the deal structure, working with the different desks to develop pricing.  Employees oversee, guide, and negotiate the contract to be signed between NextEra and the counterparty and are also responsible for selling the deal internally, navigating a rigorous vetting process, to gain approval.  This position finally executes the structured transaction by gaining input from several different departments such as Pricing, Supply, Legal, Credit, Billing.  A key part of this role will be working with other C&I Sales teams within the broader NextEra organization.  This position will focus on large C&I clients in any competitive market territory.


Ideal candidate will have 9+ years related large C&I sales experience with expertise in retail energy pricing, C&I contract structuring, and experience selling or working with many of the energy solutions described above.  Position location is flexible (remote) but must be within a competitive market territory.  Ideally located in Houston, Dallas, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago or New York City. Travel required.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage members of the retail C&I sales team by guiding their sales efforts
  • Own the development of integrated sales proposals, coordinating across multiple business units
  • Manage origination reporting needs to upper management
  • Develop strong relationships within various NEE BUs to understand products offerings 
  • Communicate directly with potential customers and front-line originators to gain an understanding of customer needs to propose solutions, and/or negotiate deal structures and documents that meet those needs
  • Analyze and develop different structures for the customer including risk mitigation solutions to ensure risks are appropriately managed and quantified
  • Oversee, guide, and negotiate,  the contract and related documents that will be signed between the Company and the counterparty
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
