Position Specific Description

This position is located in the Gexa Energy office in Houston.  Gexa Energy is a subsidiary of NextEra Energy, Inc.  Gexa Energy, under its different brand names, sells retail electricity in 13 states and the District of Columbia.

 

Qualifications:

 

Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor required.  Must be member in good standing of a state bar (Texas or any other state in the United States) and have fewer than 3 years of experience practicing law.

  • Ability to work as part of a team with both internal and external stakeholders with diverse cultural backgrounds

  • Ability to prioritize time spent on particular matters by value and risk  
  • Ability to comfortably reprioritize quickly as needed by the business

  • Ability to work technically independent with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and software (desktop and web based) regularly used by attorneys

 

 

Job Overview

Employees in this job perform a variety of routine legal assignments and projects of varying (basic to moderate) complexity and deliver timely and quality legal services to clients with close supervision.

Job Duties & Responsibilities


•   Conducts legal research, drafts legal documents and assists more experienced attorneys in transactions
•   Provides legal advice to business units, and prepares resolutions and forms
•   Works to ensure budget compliance and avoids the need for outside counsel
•   Ensures disclosure of potentially material legal issues to senior leadership
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


•  Member in Good Standing of a State Bar
•  High School Grad / GED
•  Juris Doctorate
•  Bachelor's Degree
•  Experience:1+ years
