Position Specific Description

Position will be based at the Interstate Solar Site in Fort Pierce, FL, and cover sites from Martin County to Volusia County.

 

This position sits within the Power Generation Division which is responsible for all of NextEra Energy's non-nuclear generation operations, exceeding 40,000 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity.

Position is responsible for maintenance at solar PV arrays and DC/AC inverters on solar power plants to achieve safe, efficient, and environmentally sound plant operations. Successful candidate maintains all tools, shops, vehicles, and all work locations in a safe and efficient condition. Provides inspection of watch, electrical, mechanical, and electronic troubleshooting for solar arrays and inverters. Job will focus on solar field electrical repairs and planned inverter maintenance. Job will include other misc. duties as assigned.  Travel to other nearby sites will be required as needed.

Job Overview

This job is a position offering experience with career-related activities encountered in a student's area of specialization. This position will provide mentoring and practical hands-on experience to assist the intern with achieving deliverables related to the wind generation industry. To be considered for this position the applicant must be actively enrolled full-time in a two-year electrical, mechanical, technical, or wind degree (or equivalent) program at a college with a minimum GPA of 3.00.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Under direct supervision:

  • Performs maintenance and repair activities on wind turbine generators and/or their components
  • Performs electronic and mechanical troubleshooting activities as required
  • Attends regular safety meetings and follows appropriate company safety and environmental policies
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Experience: 0+years
  • Valid Driver’s License (NON CDL)
  • Post-Offer Functional Capacity Eval
